My name is Rachelle, but for ages I have been called Shellby. I love all things animal, but I have a special passion for exotics. Especially reptiles. I grew up in Las Vegas and the wide open desert areas were our playgrounds. Having an older brother with a similar passion afforded me the opportunity to see and experience all sorts of animals. Like a common garter snake at 4. I was outside with it, trying to show it to some older ladies who were walking down our street. My mother loved to tell that story. I had a very large white rat at 5, she hated that one. Many indiginous lizards and snakes we would catch and watch for a few days then release back into their environments. Through the years I lived vicariously through him and his wonderful snakes of all types, the large, the small and the HUGE. Now as an adult and mom I enjoy having a variety of these creatures as well as sharing my passion with my sons. My Oldest has 2 eyelash crested geckos. Youngest has a bearded dragon lizard, a pinstripe ball python and a veiled chameleon. I personally have a ball python, a veiled chameleon, a leopard gecko, a bearded dragon, a uromastxy and desert tortoise. Most of my animals are rescues. My latest, the veiled chameleon was a pet store return. She was pretty beaten up by her cage mate. She wound up losing part of her tail and crest. As soon as I saw her I knew she belonged with us. After I heard her story, I had to have her! She is perfect and we love her. We also have 2 cats, a tortie named Izzy and a grey cutie named Little Bit. 2 Shih-tzus live here, too. Braeden who is red and Oliver who is brown and white...and a bit derpy. My babies are all properly spoiled.
A new endeavor for me and my boys is the raising of Dubia Roaches for feeders. Last year Youngest and I kept silkworms. Raised them all the way to adults and now we have some eggs we plan on incubating. As you can see taking care of things be they animal, plant, or human is what I do.
